Procedure for IT Plekhanov CUP 2025

1.

General Provisions

1.1.

The IT-Plekhanov CUP 2025 Marathon (hereinafter referred to as the Marathon) is held as part of Plekhanov TechFest and aims to support the development of the IT sector, identify and support talented young professionals, and promote innovation and technological entrepreneurship.

1.2.

Organizers

The Marathon is organized by Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (FSBEI HE «REU named after G.V. Plekhanov») with the support of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association (FUMA) in the field of 09.00.00 «Informatics and Computer Engineering».

1.3.

Venue

  • Qualifying Round: Online (Remote)

  • Finals: Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Moscow

Goals and Objectives of the Marathon

2.1.

Goals:

Develop participants’ skills that are in demand in the field of information technology.

Prepare future IT specialists.

Create opportunities for career orientation for high school and vocational college students.

2.2.

Objectives:

Develop IT skills among high school and vocational college students.

Raise awareness of key competencies in the IT sector.

Identify and support talented young professionals.

Promote innovative technologies and methodologies in the field of IT.

3.

Marathon Format

3.1.

Preliminary Round

Conducted remotely.

Format: online testing by nomination.

Based on the test results, a list of finalists is formed.

3.2.

Final Round

Held in person at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

Consists of several stages:

Practical task with a time limit.

Business program for mentors and accompanying persons.

Open master classes and panel discussions.

Award ceremony for the winners.

4.

Categories and Nominations

4.1.

Competition Levels:

  • Basic Level – for students in grades 8–11 and first-year students of the secondary vocational education (SVE) system.
  • Professional Level – for second-, third-, and fourth-year students of the secondary vocational education (SVE) system.
4.2.

  • IT Infrastructure Administration
  • Secure Digital Environment
  • Software Development and Programming
  • System Engineering and Programming
  • Technical English for IT Specialists
  • WEB Technologies: Creativity and Progress
5.

Participants

5.1.

Students and learners from educational institutions of various levels are eligible to participate in the Marathon.

5.1.

Participant Division:

  • Basic Level – school students (grades 8–11) and first-year SVE students.
  • Professional Level – SVE students from the second year and above.
6.

Prizes and Awards

6.1.

All participants of the preliminary and final rounds receive electronic participant certificates.

6.2.

Prize-winners and winners receive valuable prizes.

6.3.

Prize-winners and winners receive additional points for admission to Plekhanov Russian University of Economics for higher education programs.

6.4.

Accompanying persons of the finalists can receive a Marathon Mentor Certificate.

6.5.

As part of the final, a business program is held, where participants can complete a professional development course and receive a qualification certificate.

7.

Preliminary Round Rules

7.1.

Participants in the preliminary round are evaluated based on specific criteria set by the organizers.

7.2.

To advance to the final, participants must score a certain number of points set by the organizers.

7.3.

The finalists are selected based on the highest scores, but no more than one representative from each educational institution per nomination can advance to the final.

7.4.

If multiple participants from the same educational institution achieve the highest score and the number of such institutions exceeds the quota for the final, the organizers will select only one representative from each institution.

7.5.

If multiple participants from the same educational institution achieve the highest score and the number of such institutions is less than the quota for the final, all these participants are admitted to the final.

7.6.

Based on the results of the preliminary round, all finalists are notified. If finalists do not respond by the specified deadline or fail to confirm their participation, their spot is offered to the next participant in the ranking table.
